Colette is an actor, theatre-maker and creator of Cameroonian and Kuwaiti heritage based in London. She trained at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts where she graduated with a BA Hons in Performing Arts – Acting.
In theatre, Colette has performed with National Theatre of Scotland, was formerly a member of the world-renowned Song of the Goat Theatre in Poland and will soon be working with the Royal Lyceum Edinburgh and Bristol Old Vic. Her performances have taken on national and international tours, acclaimed runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, stages such as the Globe for the World Shakespeare Festival and collaborations with the Shubbak Festival and Serpentine Galleries.
Her screen work includes BBC, Rachel McLean’s latest art-film Make Me Upand commercial work for the Mo Farah Foundation, KFC, Emirates Airlines, Iceland and others.
From 2013 to 2016 Colette returned home to Kuwait and was at the forefront of the artistic movement as Artistic Director of her arts company COBA that gave workshops, performances and facilitated creative projects at hubs such as Contemporary Art Platform, Nuqat, Amricani Cultural Centre, Al Makan, Al Shaheed Park, Art Space and The Secret Garden to name a few. She has been featured in a number of Kuwaiti publications and made various appearances on national television and radio.
Through her diverse experiences and varied portfolio, Colette has worked with many different approaches from Stanislavski to Grotowski and Lecoq. Indeed, her interest in devised physical theatre and movement-led work stems from her early experiences and vigorous training in Karate Shotokan and Judo (her father Augustin Tchantcho was a highly-respected martial arts Sensei), Figure Skating and Athletics. Colette is also an experienced singer with a unusually deep alto voice.
Colette is often led by the unique needs of each project, allowing her to develop her creativity through an array of disciplines. She is currently co-creating a web series, developing a one-woman show and is an aspiring tailor of women’s suits.
